  • Why use Self Storage?

    People use self storage because they want extra storage space without cluttering up their homes and businesses. Having a secure storage unit that they control themselves lets customers manage their space in a cost effective and secure manner.

  • Where is my closest Blue Bear Site?

    We have self storage sites in Petersfield and Buckingham with new sites opening soon across the midlands.

  • Am I required to commit long term?

    No, we have a number of booking options – the most flexible is the pay and store option which is paid monthly in advance. Please be aware that our minimum storage period is 1 month and the first month must be paid in full upfront.

  • How does long term storage work (6 months plus)?

    Customers who commit to and pay upfront for 6 or 12 months will receive significant discounts. At the end of this period they can either renew for a further 6 or 12 months, move to a pay and store package or move out and end their agreement. Please be aware that longer term deals are non refundable if you leave early.

  • How do I book a container?

    Just apply for a quote online and then either we will email you or you can give us a call and book one over the phone – we ask that you provide the following items:

    o    ID (passport of driving licence)

    o    Credit or debit card

  • How quickly can I book a container?

    As long as we have a container available you are free to move straight in, just complete our licence form and off you go! To limit disappointment we ask customers to give us a call a few days in advance as we do sometimes reach full capacity.

  • Do I need a padlock?

    We provide padlocks. We take a £40 deposit which is returned when you move out and the padlock is safely returned.

  • What can I store with Blue Bear?

    There is very little that we would find unsuitable, household goods, furniture, events equipment and excess stock would be some of our standard requests (please check the list of prohibited items in the question below). We are always open to a challenge so call us on 02084 322283 if you have a more specialised requirement.

  • What is prohibited from being stored?

    Your container is your space but we ask customer not to store the following:

    • Flammable materials
    • Hazardous materials
    • Explosive materials or pyrotechnics (including fireworks)
    • Poisons or toxic substances
    • Foodstuffs or perishable items
    • Livestock
    • Firearms or weapons of any type
    • Illegal materials or substances
    • Any other material or item that may, in our opinion, pose a risk to you, to any other customer or to any member of our staff
  • What is the shortest time I can store for?

    The minimum period we offer is 1 month.

  • When can I access my container?

    Containers can be accesed at any time during our opening hours. Please check the individual site details on our homepage before booking.

  • Will my container be safe and secure?

    We realise that containers wouldn’t be everyones first port of call for a storage solution, but growing awareness to alternative storage options is what Blue Bear is all about.

    We understand how important your belongings are to you and as a result we take security seriously. Our sites are security fenced with monitored CCTV and recorded gate opening systems. Each container is of steel construction and we use high grade padlocks which are further protected by a lock box. Due to the measures we take to maximise security on our sites we are able to offer fantastic deals on insurance to add some further peace of mind.

  • How much space do I need?

    Check out our helpful SIZE GUIDE to give you a better indication of your storage requirement. Blue Bear Self Storage offer a range of units including the two most popular unit sizes 80 sq. ft. and 160 sq. ft.

  • How much does self storage cost?

  • Will my belongings be insured?

    To add that extra layer of security and peace of mind we ask that all our customers insure their goods. As most home insurance policies only cover goods in your home. We have worked hard to get our sites up to the standard required by insurers to get full cover. As such we are able to offer our customers competitive cover for the duration of their stay. We do ask that anyone who chooses not to use our insurance provides us with evidence that their belongs have some level of cover.

  • Hows does Blue Bears content insurance work?

    It’s very easy – we will send you a copy of the policy summary (please read this). Then based on the value of your goods just state the level of insurance required on your licence form and that’s it.

  • Will my container suffer from damp?

    When one contemplates that a vast majority of goods imported into the UK from overseas comes in via a container (Clothing, furniture, domestic goods, machine parts, medicine, toys, computers, mobiles and lots, lots more) you begin to understand that shipping container are perfectly and purposely designed to be the ultimate storage unit!

    Our containers are modified shipping containers and completely waterproof (our insurance covers this) with vents providing continuous air flow. We have had customers storing everything from electrical equipment to furniture and never had an issue.

    What we do recommend is that customers try to avoid bringing moisture into the container. Water brought in will evaporate and take some time to escape from the container. With that in mind please ensure freezers are defrosted and washing machines etc are fully drained down.

  • Can I have multiple containers?

    Yes of course. Just give us a call and we arrange additional containers.

  • Can I swap units if my storage needs change?

    Absolutely. We understand that storage needs can change overtime and that’s why we offer flexible contracts allowing customers to grow or shrink their storage requirements as necessary. Just give us a call and we will help you into a new unit.

  • How can I pay for my container?

    For our pay and store customers we ask everyone to pay by cheque, bank transfer or standing order. This is the most cost effective way for us and enables us to offer market leading rates. For customers who pay six months or more in advance we take payment by bank transfer.

  • Do I have to sign a lease?

    No, simplicity is the name of the game. A straightforward storage licence is all that is required.

  • What if I want to leave early?

    Blue Bear Self Storage require that you proved at least 14 days notice before you move out.

  • Do you do pick ups or removals?

    Many of our customers choose to rent a van and move themselves. If you do need a hand we can also recommend local delivery companies.

  • Do you take a deposit?

    We only take a deposit for the padlocks we provide. No further deposit is required.
