It's a popular misconception that self-storage is a male-centric world... As a self-storage business operating in Petersfield, Buckingham and Corby, we are the storage home for many female entrepreneurs and businesswomen. We’re also proud to count many women among our residential storage customers. Monday, March 8th, is International Women’s Day. This global day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. So, in this article, we thought it was appropriate to celebrate strong women.
"Here’s to strong women: May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them."
In fact, at Blue Bear, we decided to ask a strong woman to raise us... Or at least the handle on one of our containers. As a self-storage business specialising in container storage, we were fed up being told that women wouldn't be able to open our containers. We knew that whatever a bear could do, a female bear could do it better. And we decided to put it to the challenge!
We invited Clem and Fred to take part in our Blue Bear Container Challenge. The premise was simple, to determine who could open the container doors the fastest. Of course, it wouldn't be a competition without a prize... So, Clem and Fred were battling it out for our coveted Blue Bear!
Challenge 1:
For the first challenge, we kept things straightforward, a time-based head-to-head. Clem was victorious, showing skill and dexterity, or as George (our co-founder) put it... "Clem made mincemeat out of Fred".
Challenge 2:
In the second challenge, we decided to up the game and brought out the blindfolds. There was no stopping Clem, who opened the container in record time while Fred was left floundering.

We filmed this challenge at our Petersfield site, but we think the outcome would have been the same in Buckingham or Corby. Well done, Clem!
